Definition

Total waste generated / produced in the area during the year under review as compared to the total solid waste generated in the benchmark year.

Justification

This gives a true figure of changes in the amount of solid waste to determine the solid waste management program. This includes methods and steps that are more suitable to be created for managing solid waste (e.g. domestic waste, scheduled waste, construction waste) including systematic and sustainable disposal methods which can improve the quality of the environment (in terms of land, odor and air) in the area.

A.    Total per capita solid waste generated in the area during year under review.

B.    The total amount of solid waste generated (kg) in the area in benchmark year.

ST3 – P1 =  [ (A – B) / B ] x 100

Where:

A =    Total daily per capita solid waste generated in the area during the year under review.

A = (A/C) x 100

B =    The amount of daily per capita solid waste generated in the area in benchmark year.

B = (B/D) x 100

C =    The population in the area during the year.

D =    The population in the area in benchmark year.
