ST1-P1 Cleanliness Level of Rivers (WQI)

ST1-P1 Cleanliness Level of Rivers (WQI)
Definition

The cleanlinessof rivers that flow through the area. (Water quality condition based on monitoring in the vicinity of the area shown by the WQI)

Justification

Cleanwater contributes to a high quality environment. About 97% of the water supply in Malaysia is from rivers. Thus, rivers should be preserved by taking early action to prevent pollution and ensure water quality at cleanlevels. Water quality index (WQI) is measured based on parameters such as Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Suspended Solids (SS) and Ammoniac Nitrogen (AN).
