KT3-P1 The Ratio of Cases Relating to Public Nuisance Complaints per 10,000 Population
Definition

The number of complaints relating to public nuisance received by local authorities in the year. Nuisance means any act, omission or thing which causes damage, annoyance, offense, damage, harm or injury to the senses of sight, smell or hearing or that threatens or endangers, or which may threaten or endanger, health or property, or which affects the safety or rights of the general population.

Justification

Under Section 80 of the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171), all local authorities are required (obligated) to take steps to stop all public nuisance occurring within their locality. Nuisance complaints can indicate the level of public satisfaction with the environment that they inhabit.
