IT2-P1 Solid Waste Recycled

IT2-P1 Percentage of Solid Waste Recycled
Definition

Measuring the percentage of solid waste recycled in an area

Justification

Solid wasterecycled refers to the volume of waste recycled at registered recycling collection centers.

Implementing recycling programs is strongly encouraged in all areas. The measurement is based on the amount of solid waste that is recycled (kg) compared to the total solid waste generated in the area. A larger percentage of recycling reflects greater sustainability.

The National Strategic Planfor Solid Waste Management targets an annual increase in the rate of recycling amongthe Malaysian population of 1 percent per year, and so the rate of recycling among Malaysia's population in 2020 is expected to be 22 percent.
