IT1-P2 Total Domestic Electricity Consumption (KW) per capita
Definition

Measuring the volume of daily domestic electricity consumption per inhabitant in the area during the year.

Justification

According to the statistics reported in the National Energy Balance Report 2008, Malaysia recorded an increase of primary energy consumption by 6.1% a year between 2000 and 2008. This value is also close to the average annual GDP growth of 6% for the same period. Rising energy demand is not only closely related to GDP but also to population increase (Association of Water and Energy Research Malaysia (AWER), 2011) .

The cost of electricity from generation to  distribution will be counted as the tariff. In addition to meeting increased demand, giving a fair tariff needs to be monitored to ensure continued economic growth. To move towards a high-income developed country, per capita energy consumption will certainly increase. The measurement of electricity consumption can help in the holistic structural planning of supply and distribution of electricity.
